How is participating in GVIAS different from other organisations?
How is participating in GVIAS different from other organizations? Well over the years the people who have been involved with helping organize local events such as Recompression, Burn in the Forest (BitF), Sizzle/Drizzle and helped establish GVIAS have noticed that we tend to do things differently from other organizations or groups that we have participated with in the past.
Some of our core organizational values include:
- Openness, accountability and transparency are paramount
- Do-ocracy is favoured over hierarchy
- Consensus based decision making is generally favoured over more formal heirarchical process based decision making approaches
- Members self identify and are not selected
- Belief that individuals should be trusted to fulfil to the best of their abilities the responsibilities that they agree to take on
