August News

Congratulations to the hard-working production team on a very successful Burn in the Forest! The weather was perfectly hot for the 1500 attendees who came together to celebrate interactive art, amazing music, fun activities, creative expression, and a wonderful sense of community. The team was well-prepared to handle its greatest challenge, and the outpouring of support from the community was incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered to make this event so memorable!

In the meantime, the GVIAS board and Conduct Committee have been working on refining the Committee’s processes. GVIAS recognizes the importance of the community’s engagement, and will thus be holding another townhall for feedback and information in October. The members will then meet for a restorative justice training session in October, aiming to launch shortly thereafter. GVIAS looks forward to implementing this important initiative to better support our entire community.
Burning Man is just around the corner – the man burns in 27 days!  Our community is busy planning, packing and preparing for the journey to the desert – we wish you all safe travels and an amazing burn! And if you’re staying in the Vancouver area, we wish you a lovely August!
Warmly,
The GVIAS Board
