GVIAS Seeks Candidates for 2010 Event Production

GVIAS is seeking candidates to act as producers for our 2010 events, Recompression and Burn in the Forest.

The job previously known as "Producer" is being split into 3 roles:  Producer, Technical Director, and Volunteer Coordinator.  These 3 roles will work together at a high level to coordinate the event, the team leads and volunteers.  These are unpaid volunteer postions which have their own rewards of community leadership and thanks.

The Producer is the single point of contact with outside agencies before, during, and after the event and responsible for coordinating location, permits, marketing, budget, schedules and administration. As well as, working with the art grant committee, the GVIAS Board, and delivering the final assesment/wrap-up report.

The Technical Director helps direct and coordinate all things infrastructure:  theme camp placement, stage, sound, lights, power, art installation, signage, decor, visuals, transportation/delivery issues, set-up and strike.

The Volunteer Coordinator is the go-to person for all things related to volunteers and volunteers-to-be.  Including: Outreach, coordination, skills assesment/placement, retention, volunteer tracking & record keeping, appreciation & expectation management, volunteer survey/evaluation assessment, and conflict management.

Some useful qualifications include:

- patience and creativity in dealing with the needs of many people
- a broad range of community ties
- copious free time (5 - 10 hours / week, more as the
event approaches, and the week of the event)
- ability to deal calmly and coherently with property owners and local
officials, including fire marshals and sheriffs.
- good online organizational skills (using mailing lists, keeping track of
people, equipment, contracts, etc)
- some knowledge of sound equipment and noise ordinances
- some knowledge of fire performance and safety

Ideal candidates will have some experience organizing events, though
talented noobs are also encouraged to apply.

To apply, please fill out the GVIAS 2010 Producer Application
form:
http://burnintheforest.com/producer-application/

I recognize that the application form is a bit impersonal, but I expect that
it will help some candidates to organize their thoughts. Either way, we'll
be chatting soon.

Deadline for applications is Friday, January 22. We hope to choose a
producer and jump into planning mode immediately.
