About

Mission

The mission of GVIAS is to support activities that serve the Greater Vancouver Burning Man community. We provide resources and advocacy for events, art, and projects that bring the community together. We encourage interactive and participatory experiences in the spirit of the 10 principles of Burning Man.

The Society

Greater Vancouver Interactive Arts Society (GVIAS) is a not-for-profit society created to promote community-based interactive arts in Greater Vancouver and British Columbia.  We are guided by the 10 principles of Burning Man.  These principles guide our interactions with one another and the environment and have a strong ethos of participation. As such, our events and the society are entirely dependent upon community participation.

The GVIAS is participant driven, which is the cornerstone of the community that created it. None of what we accomplish is possible without the willing participation of our members. All of our members are expected to contribute to our society and the community in their own way.

Our purpose is to support Interactive arts in BC. To this end, we provide art grants and organize community events where artists can showcase their art.

The matter will be added to the agenda of the next scheduled board meeting. At the BOD discretion, members may attend meetings of directors to make a presentation. To request to attend a BOD meeting, please submit your request and any business you wish to raise, and the board will arrange for your attendance at the next scheduled meeting.

Availability of Documents

Transparency is an important issue.  We want to assure you that society documents such as Financial reports, BOD meeting minutes and policy documents are still available to you, even without a member-login enabled website. Please respect the privacy of your fellow members and refrain from sharing documents publicly.
If you are a member and wish to see any of these documents held by GVIAS, please send your requests via our contact form and we will attempt to fulfill your request within 7 days.
