DPW Set-up Pod Description
DPW is short for “Department of Public Works,” similar to the crew at Burning Man. Can you wield a shovel? Like to get your hands dirty and build things? Do you know how to fix a generator or just how to start one? Set-up preps the site and sets up infrastructure for the event. We need a Crew of hardy souls who want to arrive early, stay a whole week in paradise, and help us build the jank!
DPW Set-up Pod Responsibilities:
- Site Improvement
- Site Set-up
- Placement Liaison
- Power
- Transport In
- Quartermaster
Reports to: GVIAS Board
Liaises with:
- BitF Controller and all other Production Pods
- Culture Committee (on-site requirements)
- Communications Committee
- Contract Committee
- Volunteer Committee (volunteer coordination and on-site requirements)
DPW Set-up Producer Responsibilities
- Overseeing and ensuring all tasks under the DPW Set-up Pod’s purview are completed on schedule
- Share management tasks with associate producers
- Interface with Board Liaison, BitF Chair, and Board as needed
- Recruit leads, delegate, and ask for help as needed
- Building the DPW Set-up teams and creating a supportive environment where Team Leads feel confident and supported in leading their own volunteers
- Seek leads interested in becoming producers, and mentor them to become producers if desired
- Interface with other Producers, pods and committees as needed
- Attending at least one BitF Production Team meeting per month
- Prepare any necessary budget for pod
- Prepare or delegate the preparation of requests for placement, signage, survival guide and WWW submissions
