Ten Days Until Burn in the Forest!

Happy Burn in the Forest!

Our community has been hard at work for months, planning, building and bringing amazing art and ideas to fruition, for the biggest celebration of the year. We’re so excited to see how it all works out at the new site! GVIAS congratulates all of our fantastic volunteers for their dedication and vision; we are so thankful to have such a vibrant, engaged community. Let’s also continue to take good care of each other – please remember to party responsibly. We wish everyone an absolutely outstanding time!
Safety 3rd!?
The GVIAS Board and BitF Production team encourage all participants to read the 2019 Survival Guide; the list of What to bring or not is also quite useful. Our new location, Snug Lake Amphitheater, is a larger, scenic site, with a beautiful lake, but it also comes with a new set of challenges – the kind embraced by our community.
Some notable changes for this year and the new venue:
  • No potable water on site – participants must bring their own
  • Gray water must be contained and brought offsite for disposal
  • No cell reception (possibly at the top of the hill)
  • Most of the terrain is not level and the central hill is steep
  • Days can get up to 30C and there is little natural shade
  • The weather can be very windy; nights are as cold as 3C
  • Ice sales will be available Thursday through Saturday

Exodus – Important Reminder

A reminder that there are no ins and outs at BitF, and the event ends (participants out) on SUNDAY JULY 21st by 1:00 pm sharp. Members of theme camps, art projects and sound camps must tear down and be out by 3:00 pm.
Volunteers Still Needed!
BeTheCrew is open until Wednesday, July 10th – there are still a few areas in which your help is needed! Click here to volunteer!
Burner Skool 2019
GVIAS is in the process of organizing Burner Skool 2019 – and we’re looking for your ideas! We’ve discussed holding an un-conference, maybe a recurring “drop-in with BM vets” after BitF, or a potluck picnic/barbecue as in the past. We’re also looking for experienced burners to speak on a variety of subjects that would be useful to newbies. If you’re inspired to assist, or wish to speak on a subject, please email the [email protected] to indicate your interest!

Membership Is Free

But Some Assembly Required

We are guided by the 10 principles of Burning Man. These principles guide our interactions with one another and the environment and have a strong ethos of participation. As such, our events and the society are entirely dependent upon community participation.

Membership isn't required to participate, but members enjoy a number of perks including access to a community of doers and dreamers.
