Adieu, Burn in the Forest! 
You may have heard that BitF 2024 was the last Burn in the Forest….

After more than 20 years, it is time to give our event a bit of a refresh in the form of a new name.

As a community, we voted that it is time to move away from “Burn in the Forest,” to something less… ummmm… forest fire-y. Although the name is beloved and has a strong, storied past, it has proven to be a hurdle in the search for suitable venues, event insurance, and fostering positive community relations. This marks the culmination of two years of deep consideration and thought…

… What will it be called in 2025! It’s up to all of us to decide!

Please submit your new event name BEFORE SEPTEMBER 16, 2024!!

Our community will be voting on a short list of names drawn from these suggestions, between October 1 and October 8.
Would you like to help in the naming process? The Culture Committee will be creating a Name Change Working Group (NCWG) to read through all community suggestions and come up with the short list of names that the GVIAS membership will vote on. The NCWG is open to all GVIAS members in leadership roles (producers, board members, and committee members) and all volunteers who have accrued 16+ hours of volunteering.
