Each of GVIAS’ committees are made up of members who work together to make amazing things happen!
If you’re interested in joining a committee, check out available leadership opportunities here: https://gvias.org/leadership-opportunities/
Communications Committee
Are you a social media guru with WordPress experience? The Comms Committee manages and moderates GVIAS’ online presence, and creates and maintains content on Facebook, and the GVIAS and GVIAS-owned websites. With a touch of humor and an understanding of the burner community, the Comms Committee curates interesting and timely content to keep the community up to date about events, opportunities, GVIAS and Burning Man related news. As ambassadors of the community, Committee members will be accountable for monitoring the GVIAS social media channels, engaging as appropriate, and ensuring our Community Code of Conduct is observed.

The role of the Committee is not just to source and track materials, equipment and venues for all GVIAS events (anything over $1000), but also to foster good relationships with all vendors. Help GVIAS successfully procure diverse lists of equipment and services, and have the satisfaction of knowing that you planted the seeds for the growth of our amazing events.

The Finance Committee supports the GVIAS Board of Directors and the GVIAS event committees to create budgets and manage both the society’s and event finances. If you have skills in accounting or financial management, or have managed a budget with a non-profit organization – you just gotta share the magic – this committee is for you! Your magic = thriving financial health for our non-profit society = more art for everyone.

Policy Committee
Do you love getting into the nitty-gritty details of processes? Do you dream up decision trees sometimes “just for fun”, while trying to figure out how something works? The Policy Committee considers the who, what, when, why of every policy. Event management experience and skills are necessary for Policy Committee members to create policies and decision trees which will aid in the management of the GVIAS organization, the production of all events, and decisions within online spaces.

Volunteer Committee
The BitF Volunteer Production Group is expanding to become the GVIAS Volunteer Committee, which will officially provide support for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training and recognition across events! Committee members can expect to spend lots of time communicating online with event Producers, Leads, and Volunteers, and with each other. The Committee will operate year round to provide continuity for volunteers and production groups. This is a welcome change which will provide better familiarization with the various tools used to manage GVIAS events, and Committee members will need to be comfortable using them and training others to use them.
