Policy Committee
Reports to: GVIAS Board of Directors
General Description
The Policy Committee supports GVIAS by capturing best practices and documenting policies to improve transparency and consistency in event management, general operations, and endeavors across the organization.
Organizational Goals & Responsibilities
- Develop GVIAS policy content for review by the Board, at the direction of the GVIAS Board, and in areas identified by the Board as priorities
- Consult with the appropriate subject matter experts and affected parties, either internally or externally to the organization, to write clear and concise policy documents
- Review all policies for accuracy and currency
Expectations
- Review policies from GVIAS and other regionals with the goal of keeping policies current and relevant to GVIAS events and communication channels
- Gather and integrate previous policy and/or procedure to best address future needs of the organization
- Facilitate and be a resource to other committees in the documentation of policy
- Keep regular and accurate minutes of any policy committee meetings
- Report to the BoD and community annually at the AGM
- Follow the Code of Conduct in all interactions
- Follow all applicable BoD approved policies
Commitment
- Year round. Appointment is one or two years in length
- Multiple Terms possible: yes
- One monthly meeting (approx two hours)
- Occasional additional meetings (break out groups)
- Additional work in between meetings as required (approx four hours per month)
- Eligible for purchase of directed tickets to BiTF
Role Requirements
- Having word processing skills.
- Light tech and/or office skills
- Strong writing and typing skills a plus
- Event production is a plus but not required
