The GVIAS Grant Committee would like to announce a one time “Bonus Grant” round for 2018. This grant will open May 5th and close June 1st and will have a maximum award of $500. We created this round because we had a very large number of art applications this year that did not receive a grant due to not meeting GVIAS’ interactivity requirements. This left the Committee with a lot of leftover funds. So we decided to create a new round to help get money to artists while still supporting our mission to fund interactive art.
How is this round different? This round does not REQUIRE interactivity to be considered for a grant. Instead ALL art applications submitted in the “Bonus Grant” round will be evaluated (unless there is a budget or safety concern). Projects with interactive elements will score higher than non-interactive projects and have a higher chance of receiving the maximum $500 award. What makes a project interactive? In its simplest form, interactive art becomes something different when people engage with it compared to when the art is sitting alone.
If you submitted a project in a previous round that did not receive a grant due to lack of interactivity, we highly encourage you to re-apply to this “Bonus Grant” round. If you have any other questions feel free to contact us directly at gvias-grants-committee@gvias.
