The GVIAS Conduct Committee is a group of volunteers that are independent of the GVIAS Board. Its mission is to assess conduct concerns raised by community members and provide an impartial and meaningful process to recommend conditions for an individual’s future participation at (or in rare cases, exclusion from) official GVIAS events. The Committee handles sensitive issues with transparency while keeping the personal information of involved parties confidential. It consists of at least nine experienced Burner community members, including the Leads, and makes decisions by consensus.

The Conduct Committee recruitment process is different from other committees:
- Interested community members shall email the board: [email protected] . Please include:
- Your name, burner name (if any), and any other names you were known by in the previous 5 years
- Your experience within the burner community and adjacent communities – one or two sentences is fine!
- The board will review and interview interested community members.
- The Applicant’s name will be sent to the GVIAS Membership for community vetting, with responses sent directly to the GVIAS Board of Directors.
- On the basis of the interview process, and if no concerns are raised by other GVIAS members, the Board of Directors will appoint the Applicant to the Conduct Committee.
