BITF Needs Your Help
The Burn in the Forest 2019 Production team is looking for leaders! Leads help to organize their team for the event and coordinate the volunteer crew onsite. Leads participate in some production meetings and decision-making conversations, to learn about the inner workings of the event, and share in the responsibility of ensuring the event runs smoothly.

Conduct Committee Recruiting
The Conduct Committee is seeking 2 or more additional members. It is currently composed of 9 people and we act as an independent group of volunteers to the GVIAS Board.

All interested individuals are invited to email [email protected] to express your interest by May 1, 2019. This letter can be a simple letter expressing your interest in applying for the Conduct Committee and an online application will be sent to you shortly after the May 1st deadline.

GVIAS members can also nominate someone that they feel would be a good fit for this role. Please confirm that they are interested and ask for consent to share their email address with us so we can send them an application.

We recommend that all interested individuals read our About Us page before you email us with your interest or nominations.

In short, we are here to provide a compassionate investigation process to address conduct concerns raised by community members (including concerns raised about members of the GVIAS Board or Conduct Committee). We will handle issues that are highly sensitive and also of great concern to our community as a whole.

Conduct Committee members will work in pairs (assigned by the Committee Leads) to interview those involved in a reported incident and provide an anonymized summary to the rest of the Conduct Committee. The Committee will meet at least once a month to organize, make decisions on finalized reports and prepare recommendation reports for the Board of Directors.

Anyone who works on the committee will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality and silence regarding matters brought before the committee including, but not limited to private communications and final recommendations to the Board. You will need to sign a statement of Confidentiality pursuant to this understanding.

Thank you so much for your participation and interest in the well-being of our community!

Looking for Dustcovery Producers

The Vancouver-area Burner Community has been very fortunate to have amazing producers for Dustcovery and Recharge – and now we’re looking for the next leader to step up to the challenge! Dustcovery is our Regional Burning Man Decompression event, which will be held in the Fall of 2019; this year’s event was a huge success, with 1600 attendees at a great new venue, Harbour Convention Centre in downtown Vancouver. We are looking for a team of Lead and Associate Producers to bring Dustcovery 2019 to life.

The GVIAS board hereby invites prospective applicants to submit their expression of interest to [email protected] – let us know a bit about your vision!

Happy Spring everyone!
Best Wishes from the GVIAS Board
Brodie, Ryan, Jennie, Skuirrel, Adrian, Monica, Tyler and Jenn
