Burner Skool / Newbie Picnic
Heading out to Black Rock City this year, or checking out our local Regional Burn in the Forest? Come out to this event, meet local burners, ask questions and get them mostly accurately answered!
This is for all members of the community to network and learn about attending Burning Man events, with an extra focus on BRC. This is an opportunity for burners new & old to meet new people for connecting around theme camps, and generally share some wisdom to make every one’s Burn better. If you know anyone preparing for Burning Man for the first or second or third time, bring them!!
The GVIAS is hosting a BBQ (expect some meat/veggie options – first come first served ) to augment a potluck style community gathering. Bring a salad, fruit, veggies or something good and tasty to share…label your food for food allergy awareness. Also label your bowls, plates and serving spoons before you come or with the tape & markers on the table.
► WEDNESDAY AUGUST 2nd, 5pm-9pm

Enter closest parking lot via 19th. Here’s a lovely Google map of the exact location of the picnic area and the parking lot access via 19th avenue:

► Presentation experiment for this year: Breakout Sessions!
After a brief intro, speakers will take 1-5 min to do a mega quick drop on their area of passion.
Then all will break away into separate areas around the picnic area, and participants will then be able to self curate what learning they wish to get from the event. Speakers might choose to do a short presentation once folks gather, and/or depending on numbers, can do open free form Q&A, as they see fit. More flexibility, better targeted learning & teaching!
General flow:
5-6:30pm Potluck with GVIAS sponsored BBQ
6:45-7:30pm Mini intro presentations from each speaker, quick max 5min drop of what their topic is
7:30pm-9pm BREAKOUT sessions
