Spring News & COVID-19 Update

The GVIAS Board, BitF Production Team, and ReCharge Production Teams are carefully monitoring the latest COVID-19 news and public health information, and discussing the options available. As the situation continues to evolve, we strive to keep the community informed to the best of our ability. We are considering a variety of scenarios, contingency plans, alternate arrangements, and delaying wherever possible, as no one can predict how the situation will unfold exactly. While we would love to hold all of our events as planned, we recognize that civic responsibility must be our highest priority.

We greatly appreciate your continued patience as we aim to make well-informed choices to both help keep our community safe and to position our future events for success. Take good care of yourselves and support each other – communal effort is so powerful, and we will all get through this difficult time together! And in the meantime, continue to check our Facebook page or your email for further updates.

Upcoming AGM – Monday, March 23, 7:00 pm at the Croatian Cultural Centre

As smaller gatherings continue to be seen as low risk, GVIAS encourages members to attend the AGM if they are asymptomatic, not immune-compromised or in a high-risk category. We will work with the site to ensure that the room is fully disinfected, pre-event. Attendees will be asked to wash their hands before entering the room, to practice social distancing and to take extra care of personal hygiene while present at the meeting. While a video-conferencing option will be made available, we do still require an in-person quorum of at least 15 people. Further, members must be present in-person in order to vote.

ReCharge Plans

As other events on the same weekend have already cancelled, the production team is exploring available options, such as a virtual event which will still raise much-needed funds for artists. We anticipate that a final decision will be made in the very near future – stay tuned!
