BiTF Producers Announced!
The board is extremely proud to announce that the producers for this year’s Burn in The Forest are Ashley Gartshore and Simon Hunkin. Ashley and Simon were both involved in last year’s producer mentorship program, both have a wealth of experience and fresh ideas that is sure to take Burn in The Forest to new heights of epicness. Ashley and Simon are the some of the geniuses behind the SynerG Dome music lounge, their efforts have been ‘instrumental’ in creating such a wonderful space for the community (har har).
We are extremely excited to be working with such incredibly talented and motivated community members to bring BiTF to life. We would encourage all members to volunteer in any way they can so we can make this year’s BiTF the most successful yet! Contact [email protected] if you want to get involved!

Board Positions Available
This AGM there will be 4 out of 7 board position available (woh, what an opportunity!). The three board members that will be staying on are Lisa Evenson, Ken Roepe and Arthur Goldsmith. All three of these board members will be serving out the last year of their two year term.
The board is elected to help direct the society in the best interest of its members. This year will be unique in that this should be the first time the society has a clear and concise mission statement (forged from years in the fires of the vision committee) which will hopefully be voted on and accepted by members this coming AGM. This should help guide us in decision making this coming year.
The board usually meets monthly, and sometimes has homework, but you can expect a great deal of experience and insight into the behind the scenes of GVIAS; how we allocate art grants, deal with insurance, how we interact with members and how we support the production of these incredible events.
We are looking for extremely positive and motivated volunteers. You must be willing to work with others in the spirit of participation and collaboration. We want the type that feel like they are at Burning Man year-round and want to bring that level of enthusiasm to GVIAS. You can either be a positive and proactive communicator and/or a diligent doer. Leave your egos at home, we all abhor drama, lets work together to make something great even better.
Deadline for nominations is April 13th at midnight, so don’t delay!
Please send in your nomination along with a statement as to why you think members should vote for you at: [email protected]
ReCharge
The second annual ReCharge is just around the corner! ReCharge is only in its second year and we can hardly believe how good the response has been to this concept.
ReCharge is collaborative, interactive and fun way to help support Burn in The Forest artists bring their creative missions to life! Artists will have the opportunity to pitch their projects with a visual tease of their mission, and -you- get to choose who gets your lucky dollars (or tokens in this case)! There’s of course music, art auctions, mini theme-camps, drinks and other fun affairs, come join us and help support epic art!
Tickets: $20
Location: Croation Cultural Center
Date and Time: Saturday, March 29 at 8:00pm – 1:00am

Delyse Ledgard’s Resignation
We regret to inform our membership that Delyse Ledgard has decided to step down as a board member for GVIAS. Since the beginning of her term, Delyse has been instrumental in crafting new policies, heading up new committees and advising on event production. We are grateful for her efforts and look forward to a strong and productive relationship through her role as an advisor and a participating society member.
Ultimately what precipitated this are opposing views on the society’s current state, its operations, and the mission for its future. Delyse tendered her resignation with a request that the board send a statement to the membership regarding her perspective on the matter.
The board does not share this perspective, nor does the board feel that Delyse’s statement is a fair representation of the society’s current state. We have accepted her resignation and passed along the statement for the interest of the society and to move forward with what will be an exciting year for GVIAS.
State of GVIAS
The board feels that the society has never been more productive, active or as successful as it is now. This year we have funded a record amount of art, grown our events to record numbers while maintaining our ethos, completed a multi-year study to craft a strong mission for the society, introduced a mentorship program for producers, and are now on the verge of launching a new collaborative website for its members.
We have also been fortunate to have had incredibly talented volunteers and producers step forward for our events, we feel this is a testament to the success our society’s goal to engage its members in the spirit of participation.
Despite our successes, there is still a lot of work to do. Certain committees are short on members, making it difficult for committees to move forward with work, and this is something we hope to improve this year.
Participation is key to the continuing success of GVIAS, we want to encourage all those who have been inspired by any of the events or art to consider volunteering on one of our committees or possibly even run for a board position. We work in the spirit of participation and collaboration, we foster a positive environment of support in order to help each other succeed, and we of hope that you will join us in making GVIAS even better than it already is.
Members interested in wanting to become involved with GVIAS should contact us at: [email protected]
Best Regards,
GVIAS Board
